While the town and county focuses on social media platforms for communications, Chief cooper recommended that people have multiple ways of receiving alerts, including a NOAA weather alert radio and signing up for the York County RAVE alert system. Residents should have emergency plans with multiple evacuation routes, and to make sure to execute on those plans. He also stressed the need for community preparedness, including:
- Checking on neighbors
- Participating in drills
- Sharing skills, knowledge and resources
- Volunteering
