The York County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is looking for volunteers, and is offering CERT Training starting January 13th, 2026.
CERT functions to prepare our community for disasters, respond to incidents, and assist with recovery. The team is trained to help others following emergencies until professional responders arrive and to assist the efforts of responders by providing basic first aid and assisting with tasks such as traffic control and emergency communications. CERT volunteers also organize and participate in preparedness education and outreach initiatives, such as training, tabling events, and more!
The CERT Basic Training Course, a requirement for membership, will be offered beginning Tuesday, January 13th. Classes will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9pm until February 5th at the York County Emergency Management Agency office at 149 Jordan Springs Rd in Alfred.
