Rotary Polio Initative

On world polo day, October 24, there will be a live stream event from 5 PM to 6 PM Eastern standard time. This will be a panel including Jonas Salk’s son Peter Salk, Mike McGovern and John Germ. It is a fundraising platform like Go Fund Me, but is directly set up under the auspices and control of Rotary Foundation. Connecting with those young people and getting them talking about climate are the goals of Rotary’s John Mathers Climate Action Leadership Program (JMCALP) and The Climate Initiative (TCI), whose mission is to empower youth voices for climate action.
Attend this virtual Forum to learn how your Rotary club can tap both resources and expertise to effectively and positively engage with young people on climate.

Joanna Shaw is a York County OPTIONS clinician and guest of District Governor, Bob MacKenzie. The Overdose Prevention Through Intensive Outreach Naloxone and Safety (OPTIONS) initiative is a coordinated effort of the Maine Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) and other state agencies to improve the health of Mainers with substance use disorder. OPTIONS supports treatment, harm reduction and recovery, and aims to reduce the number of fatal and non-fatal drug related overdoses. The OPTIONS co-responder initiative partners licensed behavioral health clinicians within local emergency medical services (EMS) and law enforcement agencies in every county across Maine. Liaisons work alongside their first responder counterparts to:

Selena Roy grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania. Culinary school and family ties brought her to Maine, where she excelled and graduated from McIntosh College in Dover, New Hampshire. Here she earned a certification from Le Cordon Bleu Schools. Selena’s externship brought her to the White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine working for renowned chef Jonathan Cartwright – where she learned skills in baking and pastry making.
